Sometimes the stress and pressures of everyday life get the best of us and we don’t know where to turn.
Anxiety and Depression
You feel shaky, stuck, and scared and you don’t know why. You may identify it as anxiety or a panic attack but you don’t know what to do to help yourself feel better. You are at your wit’s end and need someone to talk to who can help you find some quick solutions that you can implement today. I use a a solution focused approach that will help you identify your strengths and decrease your symptoms related to anxiety and depression.
Chronic Health Issues and Cancer
As a breast cancer survivor I understand the stress and fear related to living with chronic health conditions. My clients have told me that by adding a therapist to their support team it has enabled them to feel more empowered as they walked through their treatment and into the next phase of their life.
Do you feel like there is no one who understands you? Or is not willing to listen? When that happens and we feel disowned by a family or a society, we can close ourselves off. I work with many clients who identify as lesbian, gay, or transgender, in various stages of transitions. Our office feels like a sanctuary in the city, a safe place where you will feel heard and understood.
How I work:
I use a Person-Centered approach as well as Solution Focused, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions that help clients understand and change negative beliefs and develop new coping strategies. Clients feel a sense of feeling heard and leave with a new direction, as they often are challenged with a homework assignment that they bring back the following week.
With experience as a massage therapist and body-worker, including Reiki level I and II, and deep breathing relaxation training to release tension in the mind and body, I have a keen awareness of how stress is held in the body and how a stressful body/mind connection can prevent people from achieving their full potential.
Using sensitivity, compassion, offering feedback, and providing life skills for clients to use, I help clients work through whatever life challenges they are struggling with. Together we find a new path to the life you long to live.
